You Don't Need an Antenna from the MoonYou think that you think that your antenna must look like it came from the moon? WRONG. To receive an HD TV signal by antenna you should have an antenna that can receive the signal. The old rabbit ears should do OK if you live near a transmitter. A roof antenna will do better with a weak signal. A majority of the new HD stations will use the UHF frequencies, while a smaller portion will use the VHF frequencies. That means your antenna should be made to receive UHF and the VHF. UHF antennas typically have shorter parts to pick up the smaller wavelength. VHF antennas typically have longer parts to pick up the longer wavelengths. Many table top and roof antennas come with two sets of antennas. One UHF and one VHF. UHF antenna use shapes like hoops, bow ties, and short rods. VHF antennas use longer rods. Your TV will likely have a round threaded (coaxial) stud in the back for an antenna connection. If you have an old antenna with the flat wire coming out of it, you may need an adapter that will convert the signal to be compatible with the round coaxial connection on the back of your TV. You can pick one up at most places that sell TV's.
